How to Move a Page

There are four methods in which you can move a page within you site. Choosing which method to use depends on the following factors:

• Order of the pages
• Destination of the page

Here are the four methods that are available to move pages within your site.

If the destination of the pages you're moving are not at the same parent level they are currently nested, then you will need to move them using the Move button or using the Listing Mode.

Move Button

The Move button is located at the top of the Content Tree in the middle of the action buttons. Using the Move button will not only allow you to move pages within the root of the Content Tree, but will also allow you to select other parent pages to nest your page below. In order to use the Move button to move pages within your site from one location to another you will need to follow these steps:

1. Select the page in your Content Tree you wish to move.
2. Click on the Move button above the Content Tree.
3. This will open the Move Page window where you can select the destination of your move.
4. Select where you like to move the page within the Content Tree

1. If you wish to pereserve the permissions of the page, check off the Preserve page permissions checkbox.
2. Cick on the Move button at the bottom right.
3. This will move not just the parent page you selected but any child pages as well.

Once the page has been moved, the Conent Tree will automatically refresh and you will be able to see your page in it's new location within the Content Tree.

Listing Mode

Using the Listing Mode of Pages allows you to pick and choose which pages you wish to move and then select a single location. This will allow you to move a select few child pages or event images to a new location. In order to use the Listing Mode you must follow these steps:

1. While editing pages, select the Listing tab located above the Content Tree
2. Select a parent page from the Content Tree on the left.

 

3. From the Listing window on the right, place a check mark next to the pages you wish to move.
4. From the 'select an action' drop down, choose Move.
5. Click OK to bring up the Move Page window.
6. Select where you like to move the page to within the Content Tree.
7. If you wish to pereserve the permissions of the page, check off the Preserve page permissions checkbox.
8. Cick on the Move button at the bottom right.
9. This will move not just the parent page you selected but any child pages as well.

Once the page has been moved, the Conent Tree will automatically refresh and you will be able to see your page in it's new location within the Content Tree. Click on the Edit tab to return to editing pages.

If you are attempting to modify the order of the pages on the Root level or another parent level, then you will need to move them using the Drag & Drop method or using the Direction Move method.

Drag & Drop

The Drag & Drop method of moving pages is the quickest method to moving a page to a new destination but is not always the most accurate. While you can move a page within its own parent level, above of its parent level or below it's parent level, it is often difficult to determine from the content tree where the page will be nested based on where you will be dragging it. It is recommended to use the Drag & Drop method to move pages within the same parent level. In order to use the Drag & Drop method you will need to follow these steps:

1. From the Content Tree, click and hold the page you wish to move.
2. While still holding on to the page you clicked on, slowly move the page to its new destination.

1. When you are satisfied where it will be moved to, release the hold to drop the page in.
2. The prompt will confirm the Target Location for where the page will become nested.
3. If you wish to pereserve the permissions of the page, check off the Preserve page permissions checkbox.
4. Click No if this is not the correct destination or click Yes if you are satisfied with the location.

Once the page has been moved, the Conent Tree will automatically refresh and you will be able to see your page in it's new location within the Content Tree.

Directional Move

The directional arrows located just above the Content Tree, allow you to shift pages above or below their current nesting position. This can movement can be used to properly organize your content tree as well as to manipulate the order of your navigation. Simply click on the page you wish to move and select either the Move Up or Move Down arrow. The page will instantly change its location in the Content Tree.
