Page Type - News

The News page type displays a summary of news articles on your website and each News Item can be displayed for a certain period of time. A feature that the News page type has is the ability to set up an RSS feed.


Creating a News Page

  1. From the Content Tree select where you would like the News page to appear on your website
  2. Click on the New(+) button located above the Content Tree
  3. Select Page (menu item)
  1. In the Responsive Template News folder, select one of the templates with a News Feed
  2. Enter the name of the page that will appear on the navigation
  3. Click Save
  4. Click Publish for the page to be visible on the Live Site
Note: If your website is not Responsive the template folder will be titled "News".

Creating a News Item

  1. Select the News page on the Content Tree
  2. Click on the New(+) button located above the Content Tree
  3. Select News
  1. Fill in the following fields:
    • News Title* - The display name of the news item
    • Release Date* - Will determine the order the news items are listed with the most current date appearing at the top of the page. By default the date will be the day the news article is created. If you would like to change this date, enter in or select a date from the calendar
    • News Summary*: The summary for the news item that displays on the main news page
    • News Text: The full details of the news item that will display within the news item
    • Teaser - A teaser image for the news item
    • Publish from & to Inserting a Publish from date will allow you to dictate when content saved on a page should be visible on the Live Site. Prior to the Publish to date, only the previously published content (if available), will be visible on the Live Site. If the content on the page has never been published prior to Publish from date, the entire page will not be visible until the date entered. Inserting a Publish to date will allow you to dictate when the published content should no longer be visible on the Live Site. Time sensitive content would be a reason to set a Publish to date to ensure that the content is no longer visible on the Live Site after the date that has beene entered. Once the target date is reached, the page will enter an unpublished state
      • To set a date and time in the future for when the page should be published/unpublished, click on the calendar icon
      • To unpublish the page instantly, click on the Now link
  1. Once you are satisfied with the details click on Save or Save and Create Another to create additional news items
Note: Fields denoted with a * are mandatory to be filled in before the News Item can be saved. All other fields are optional.

Note: If your Member Central page has a NewsRepeater Webpart, you can create News Items directly on your Member Central page using the same instructions as above.

Editing a News Page

  1. Select the News Page from the Content Tree that you wish to edit
  2. Click on the Page tab
    • Adding content - There are two editable content boxes that display above and below the News Items which can be utilized to add the title of the page, text, images, hyperlinks, etc.
    • NewsRepeater - Click on the NewsRepeater Webpart to configure settings for the News Items
      • Enable Paging - Checkmark this box if the News Items should be paged 
      • Page Size - Determines the maximum number of News Items displayed per page; if there are more News Items than the page size, they will be paged; if adjusting the page size, checkmark Enable Paging
      • Visibility - Checkmark this box for the News Items to be visible on the Live Site (this option is available on the Member Central page)
    • NewsRSSFeed - Allows the target audience to subscribe to the news feed if the box is checked
  3. Click on the Save button

Editing a News Item

  1. Select the News Item from the Content Tree that you wish to edit
  2. Click on the Form tab
  3. Complete the desired changes
  4. Click on the Save button

Deleting a News Page or News Item

  1. Select the News Page or News Item from the Content Tree that needs to be deleted
  2. Click on the Delete (trash can) icon located at the top of the Content Tree
  3. You will be asked: Are you sure you want to delete the selected page?
  4. Leave the check boxes empty and click on Yes to delete the selected pag
